John Gordon “Jay” Hollingsworth III John Gordon “Jay” Hollingsworth III, 59, of Memphis, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2012. The son of John Gordon Hollingsworth, Jr. of Memphis and the late Greta Graham Hollingsworth, he also leaves behind his wife, Kimberly (Crane) Hollingsworth; daughter, Greta Elizabeth Hollingsworth; and son, Philip Gordon Hollingsworth of Memphis; two sisters, Nan Gill of Houston and Meg Hollingsworth of Memphis; three brothers, Dan Ruch Hollingsworth and Joseph Hollingsworth of Memphis and Theodore (Ted) Hollingsworth of Byhalia, MS; granddaughter, Samantha Hollingsworth; and several nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Memphis, he was a graduate of Germantown High School. After starting his career as a firefighter and paramedic, and then a long-time Director of Public Services in Germantown, he later founded real estate development and property management companies and worked for the last fifteen years developing and managing properties in Memphis. He was especially active in renovating historic properties downtown, and in partnering with faith-based groups to provide affordable housing in inner-city neighborhoods. Visitation will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown on Elvis Presley on Saturday, June 30, 1-3 p.m., with a private service to follow. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Bent Tree Learning Center, c/o Hope Fellowship Baptist Church, 687 Oasis Cove, Cordova, TN 38018.
