Nellie Mae Hollingsworth Hinton


Nellie Mae Hollingsworth Hinton, 90, of Shelbyville and formerly of Russellville, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at Masonic Homes of Shelbyville.

Mrs. Hinton was a native of Kirkmansville in Todd County and the daughter of the late William Kirk and Lola Hale Hollingsworth. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hinton.

Mrs. Hinton attended business school, worked as a bookkeeper, and then became a licensed funeral director and worked with Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville from 1968 until 1974. Mrs. Hinton was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Matron and a member of the Carrie Hart Chapter No. 83 in Hopkinsville. She was a member of Kentucky Court #1, Order of the Amaranth, and had been a member of Acacia Shrine #17, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hopkinsville.

Graveside services were Tuesday, May 6 at Glen-wood Cemetery in Elkton with Reverend Jesse O. Baxter officiating. Webb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Hinton is survived by her son, William G. Hinton; and two brothers-inlaw, Harold Hinton of Russellville and James Hinton.
