At her request, no public services will be held for Evelyn Daggett, 86, of North Bend. A private family graveside committal was held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Coos Bay.
Evelyn was born April 6, 1926, in Clay, Ark., to Robert Floyd Rolland and Maudie Ellen (Perice) Rolland. She passed away peacefully May 22, 2012, at her home in North Bend, surrounded by her children.
On Memorial Day 1942, Evelyn married Howard A. Hollingsworth. They relocated to Coos Bay in 1950. The family teased her about her love of bingo and reality television shows. She spent a significant amount of time at the North Bend Senior Center, where she enjoyed the companionship of her countless friends. They were a very important part of her life. Some of her passions and interests included gardening, jigsaw puzzles, playing rummy, reading, going to the beach and family gatherings. Evelyn had a quick wit with a sharp sense of humor that will always live on through her stories and keen observations of others.
Evelyn is survived by son, Howard Hollingsworth and his wife, Karen of North Bend; daughter, Sheila Wilson and her husband, Clark of Coquille; daughter, Shirl Hollingsworth of Seattle, Wash.; son, Harold Hollingsworth and his wife, Cheryl of Coos Bay; daughter, Sharon Vesterby of Coquille; daughter, LaRae Campbell and her husband, Stephen of Grants Pass; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Maudie E. Rolland; and her husband, Howard Anderson Hollingsworth.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to South Coast Hospice, 1620 Thompson Road, Coos Bay, OR 97420.
Arrangements are under the care of Coos Bay Chapel, 541-267-3131.
